ABOUT DESTFEST

CarriageWorks Bay 20 HILARIOUS, HANDMADE, INTENSE, ENTERTAINING, RARE AND ROCKIN’.

It’s arrived.  The film festival you’ve been waiting for.

CarriageWorks, Sydney’s newest centre for contemporary arts, presents the inaugural Destination Film Festival.  Three Saturday afternoons of film + talk, curated by Megan Spencer (Triple J, SBS’s The Movie Show). Launching on Saturday 24 November, each week will present a program of dynamic, unique films from everywhere - Australia, the rest of the world, and cyber-space. The films are followed by a panel discussion with film-junkies of all types from the yolk and fringe of Australia’s film industry.

DestFest is a showcase of new and old films, and the obsession with GOOD FILM. Spencer has uncovered cutting edge new films that are exploring and pushing the boundaries of contemporary film-making. There are also rare, lost and unseen shorts that have been liberated from garages and bottom drawers of the industry’s most innovative and creative film-makers.

Through the DestFest Panel discussions, CarriageWorks will create a much-needed, rare, fertile space for ideas and discussion for film-makers and film-lovers. Candid debate will be encouraged, with Megan Spencer at the helm. The industry is changing, film-makers are evolving, and we will explore the new movement towards technologically advanced film-making and distribution methods, and how the film world is adapting with the times.

See the films, hear the talk, meet the film-makers, be involved… Dest Fest.
